"Most Globally Competitive Chinese Companies" Award
The "Most Globally Competitive Chinese Companies" Award recognizes the achievements of Chinese companies abroad. Launched in 2006, the competition aims to spur a discussion on how Chinese companies are strategically preparing their global expansion by highlighting best practice examples.
The consultancy partnered with "Global Entrepreneur," one of China's leading business publications, which is widely read among the country's business elite. As part of the competition, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants analyzed publicly available data from a total of 200 companies doing business overseas, in Europe and the United States and across emerging markets. Companies were evaluated along three dimensions and their performance assessed based on a number of specific criteria. Analysts looked at overall business performance, sustainable competitiveness and company culture in a first step, before rating factors such as overseas business development, investment performance, R&D capability and social responsibility.
A specialized jury of business leaders from China and Europe selects both the country's Top 20. Three special prizes were awarded for outstanding company performance in the US, Europe and Emerging Markets in the 2007 competition. Technology company Huawai won the award for strong performance in Europe, while Haier Group won the prize for the US market and Lenovo was recognized for its activities in emerging markets. The competition and its winners were profiled both in the wider Chinese and European media.
The 2008 awards ceremony will take place in the fall. For additional information on the winners of the 2006/2007 competition, please see our website: http://www.best-of-european-business.com/china/winners/
