The Federal Republic of Nigeria is located in West Africa. It is the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world. Roland Berger opened an office in Nigeria in 2011, choosing Lagos, the commercial center of the country, as its central location.

Nigeria is classified as a mixed economy emerging market, and has already reached middle income status according to the World Bank. This is due to its abundant supply of natural resources, well-developed stock exchange and advanced financial, legal, communications and transportation sectors. Petroleum plays the biggest role in the Nigerian economy, as it accounts for 40% of GDP and 80% of government earnings.
