New library for St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance
Students at St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance now have access to a state-of-the-art information and education center, the new Roland Berger library. The library, housed in completely refurbished rooms, was opened on November 28 by Igor Maksimtsev, Rector of the University, Boris Firsov, Partner of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, and Dr. Ralf Eppeneder, Director of the Goethe Institute in St. Petersburg.
Vice Consul Arthur Brunner from the General Consulate of the Federal Republic also attended to mark the occasion.
With its high tech room equipped with digital catalogues and computers as well as its selection of contemporary business books and magazines, the library will be a welcome addition to the University's existing facility. St. Petersburg University is the proud owner of one of the country's oldest libraries, holding more than 1.5 million volumes.
The Roland Berger library offers a well-appointed reading space and closes a gap in the University's academic reading material. Students can leaf through the many magazines on management theory and practice whilst enjoying the stylish and calm environment of the new rooms. Among the magazine selection is Roland Berger's own corporate magazine think: act which features exclusive articles by leading economists, politicians and cultural workers.
The Roland Berger library was inaugurated with a reception following a short tour of the premises and a few words by Vice Consul Arthur Brunner and the representatives of the University, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and the Goethe Institut.
The library is part of the "Counterparts" program, a joint initiative by Roland Berger and the Goethe Institut aiming to support academic and cultural programs in Central and Eastern Europe. The program always features a cultural event in a country's capital and a library opening in a second city. This year the related cultural event was the Moscow Festival for Contemporary German Choreography under the patronage of Dr. Walter Jürgen Schmid, German Ambassador to Russia.
