Germany wants to know

Together with our partners we are taking action
The largest-ever online survey in Germany on education is ready for take-off – join in!

Pupils, teachers, students, parents, educators, professionals, laypeople – anyone who has an opinion on education can participate in the largest online survey on this topic that Germany has ever seen. From February 14 to March 6, those who are often ignored will finally be given a voice: the people who are actually affected. What educational reforms would they like to see? How can we make the educational system better and more equitable?

Germany's intellectual work in progress

For Germany has an education problem. Although the country has caught up with other OECD countries in the latest educational rankings, it is not doing well enough. In almost no other country does educational success depend so much on social background. All this is widely known, but the political discussions about the reforms required have ground to an annoying halt.

Fighting the stalemate in education

In order to resolve this educational stalemate, Roland Berger, Bertelsmann Foundation and daily newspaper Bild are now taking action. In an extremely broad-based survey entitled "A better future through education – Germany wants to know" they touch on all areas of education, from preschools to schools, vocational training, universities, and further education.

The survey aims at real improvements in the educational system and testifies to Roland Berger's specific consulting strengths: excellent analyses, effective actions ("think:act"). Our company is acutely aware that education is the decisive pillar for a functioning economy. This is also the reason, for instance, why Roland Berger set up his Foundation a few years ago – to improve the education of disadvantaged children and youth.

Questions for all target groups

The survey will draw its impact from the massive number of people participating – the organizers are aiming at way over 100,000 people to respond. It includes some 30 questions covering all areas of education from preschool to lifelong learning.

To allow Germany's two largest immigrant groups to have their say, the questionnaire is also available in Turkish and Russian. And not just online, but in print – in fact, the Turkish daily paper Hürriyet is helping with the survey, alongside German webmail companies GMX and web.de and the online agency "Revolvermänner". The questionnaire was prepared by Bertelsmann Foundation, while TNS Infratest conducts the survey and Roland Berger provides the project management and data analyses.
