Focus: HOPE – USA

Renewing HOPE in the face of the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression

Focus: HOPE is a civil and human rights organization operating in Metro Detroit. Its mission is to use intelligent and practical action to fight racism, poverty and injustice. They have a strong commitment to serving financially and educationally disadvantaged people with their basic needs and providing them with the means to enter the workforce and become self-sufficient. The organization's holistic approach to education nurtures students with a strong support structure, demands individual accountability, and provides the technical and social skills training necessary to gain sustainable employment. Focus: HOPE is also a public voice on behalf of the communities that it serves. In addition to developing and operating their own programs, the organization embraces and leverages strategic partnerships to fulfill its mission.

Since 2004, our consultants from the Detroit office helped the social organization on a number of diverse pro bono projects. At the occasion of the organization's 40th anniversary, the latest project focused on a strategic plan for the future.

Over a period of five months a three person team of Roland Berger Consultants had the great honor of guiding the non-profit organization in the development of a strategic plan to ensure that its next 40 years are just as impactful as the first 40.

In 2009, a reinvigorated Focus: HOPE will charge forward with new strategic initiatives that will help it meet the economic and social challenges that define the Metro Detroit community today.
