Strategy consultancies are in a period of growth, and career prospects for engineers with an interest in business have never been better. In 2006, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants aims to recruit up to 50 technical professionals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. For the second time, the international strategy consultancy is holding a recruiting workshop for engineers only. The workshop will be an opportunity for participants to become familiar with consultants' project work. Twenty selected participants will be divided into small teams to work on a real Roland Berger client project. The workshop will begin with a visit to the client's production facility. Students, graduates, Ph.D. students and young professionals with up to two years professional experience are invited to apply. The workshop will take place in Stuttgart from June 30 to July 2. Applications are being accepted until May 26 at www.starting.rolandberger.com.
Engineers who are interested in a career at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants should have basic knowledge of business, ideally gained during internships at international companies. Participants who do well at start.ing2006 will have excellent prospects for a career at the international strategy consultancy.
"We are hosting start.ing2006 because the need for highly-qualified engineers with an understanding of business is growing in strategy consulting," says Thomas Eichelmann, member of the Executive Committee at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. "In many industries, companies can only improve their strategic weaknesses, if they have detailed technical expertise that they use optimally. Therefore, the door is open for good engineers at Roland Berger."
The workshop will begin with a visit to a client's production facility, enabling the participants to gain an overview of "their" client. Project work will begin on the second day. Participants will work in small teams and, with the support of experienced consultants, will develop solutions and prepare a final presentation. They will then present their results to a jury of Roland Berger consultants and client representatives.
In the evenings, there will be an after-work program allowing participants to get to know each other in a more informal and relaxed atmosphere. Roland Berger consultants will also be present in the evenings to answer participants' questions and provide them with information about life as a consultant.
