Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is organizing its second recruiting workshop for natural scientists – start.science 2006. The focus this time around is on the changes in the healthcare system. During the workshop, participants will learn first hand about the work done by consultants as they develop an acquisition paper for a health insurance fund. To this end, they will analyze the challenges faced by the health insurance fund as a result of current developments in the healthcare market. With their innovative ideas, they must convince the potential clients that they have the competence to support them through a period of upheaval. Undergraduates, graduates, doctoral students and professionals alike are invited to participate in the recruiting workshop, which will take place on November 24-25, 2006 in Munich. Applications should be sent by October 31, 2006 – forms are available from www.startscience.rolandberger.com .

Natural scientists interested in working for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants should have a basic understanding of business economics. Ideally, this would have been gained during work placements with international companies. Successful participants in start.science2006 have good prospects for a career in international strategy consulting. Dr. Markus Hammer took place in last year's recruiting workshop and is now about to start as a consultant with Roland Berger. "The unique thing about start.science is that it brings you into direct contact with the Partners and Consultants at Roland Berger. They share their insights into consulting as a career and tell you about the corporate climate at Roland Berger."

Thomas Eichelmann, member of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants' Executive Committee comments as follows: "We organize start.science because of the growing need for excellently trained natural scientists in strategy consulting. Many of our clients profit from the knowledge and specific methodologies employed by natural scientists. Students with a natural science background are always welcome at Roland Berger."

On the first day of the workshop, members of the Human Resources department at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants will present the career opportunities available in international strategic consulting. This will be followed by a discussion with natural scientists who have already launched a successful career in consulting. Then the participants will get down to work, analyzing company and market data, evaluating the facts, and deriving recommendations for action.

On the second day the teams will continue working on their projects. Experienced consultants will help them to develop new strategies for their clients, as well as lending a hand in preparing the presentations. In the morning, the teams will present their proposals and ideas. The event will end with an award ceremony and feedback discussions.
