Strategy consulting in the dressing room
Amsterdam, September 25, 2006
Roland Berger Strategy Consultants and the Nederlands Dans Theater (a Dutch world leader in modern dance) have found each other in a strategic partnership which is based on a clear engagement of mutual respect, creativity and inspiration. The first example of this is "Anders Denken" (in English: "Think Differently"), an event where young professionals with three to five years of working experience will be challenged to discover the world of consulting in a totally new environment, and to deal with a current issue of the Nederlands Dans Theater. The workshops will be held in the theatre's dressing rooms this autumn. Candidates can apply during the entire event (end of September until end of October).
Roland Berger and the Nederlands Dans Theater are internationally well-established and enterprising organizations. Both organizations continuously strive to be innovative and consider the partnership as an excellent opportunity to enforce this. "The - on first thoughts - unusual cooperation forces people to be open and to project themselves in a world they are not familiar with. This is of vital importance for our strategy consultants", says Tijo Collot d'Escury, managing Partner of Roland Berger Netherlands. Roland Berger is a member of the Society, a business club of the Nederlands Dans Theater that starts various innovative projects with the business world. The cooperation between Roland Berger and the Nederlands Dans Theater focuses on mutual respect, creativity and inspiration. Later this year the Nederlands Dans Theater will also cooperate in organizing meetings for Roland Berger's younger consultants on "balancing professional and personal life".
Together with the new commercial director of the Nederlands Dans Theater, Jet de Ranitz, the idea of workshops for young professionals on a current issue of the theatre was developed. "With this an informal platform for introducing the world of consulting is created, while at the same time the Nederlands Dans Theater is supported with high quality thinking. Moreover it indicates the diversity of our work," says Collot d'Escury.
Think differently
The workshops are all about thinking different. Under guidance of Roland Berger consultants, participants work on an current issue of the Nederlands Dans Theater. "Our revenues are declining, but we still want to remain a leading brand. The question is how", says de Ranitz. The challenge for the participants is to come up with a high quality advice. In the workshops the emphasis is on an informal introduction into the world of consulting, an introduction in a new setting that takes participants out of their "comfort-zone" and challenges them to think further and differently. "During the workshops the participants will be confronted with the whole spectrum of consulting: varying from analysis and interviews in the dressing rooms to a final presentation in the theatre," says Collot d'Escury. The workshops will be concluded with a great dinner and a performance of the Nederlands Dans Theater.
