New environmental technology atlas promotes "GreenTech made in Germany"
Munich, June 13, 2007
Environmental technology is turning out to be the growth market of the future. In 2020, the environmental technology industry in Germany will generate more sales than the automotive or engineered products sectors. Environmental technology will grow to make up 16 percent of German industrial production by 2030 – a fourfold increase since 2005. These are the conclusions of the new environmental technology atlas for Germany. The study is based on a survey of 1,500 companies and 250 research institutes carried out by management consultancy Roland Berger on behalf of Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment.
Germany is the world's leading exporter of environmental technology. In the globally booming market of power generation, German companies control 30 percent of the world market. These companies alone expect sales to grow 27 percent by 2009. The environmental technology companies surveyed expect to hire 13 percent more staff in the next few years.
The markets covered in the environmental technology atlas had a global market volume of around EUR 1,000 billion in 2005. By 2020, the environmental industry's sales will more than double to an expected EUR 2,200 billion. The German economy is perfectly positioned to take advantage of this boom thanks in part to its excellent research institutes and clear policy guidelines. Environmental technology has long since ceased to be a niche industry. It is one of the most important drivers of innovation and job creation in the German economy.
The aim of this environmental technology atlas is to demonstrate this to a broader public. It is also an excellent tool for advertising Germany's environmental services and products to the world.
Part one of the environmental technology atlas analyzes six lead markets where there are very specific links between economic and ecological challenges. We have also examined the growth of sales, jobs and markets, and present technological trends, key research areas and cooperation clusters. Part two contains profiles of 400 companies and over 100 research organizations, plus a comprehensive directory of companies and research institutes. The environmental technology atlas provides a complete range of services for those looking for environmental technology providers or business partners.
The environmental technology atlas "GreenTech made in Germany" is published by Franz-Vahlen-Verlag in German and English and costs EUR 29.
