Berlin/Helsinki, April 24, 2007
Tarja Halonen, the President of Finland, awarded Prof. Roland Berger, founder and Chairman of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants the Order of the Finnish Lion. This award will be presented to him at a festive dinner this evening in Berlin by René Nyberg, the ambassador of Finland.
This event highlights Roland Berger's contribution to the Finnish economy and his work in furthering relations between Finland and Germany, which already began 40 years ago when he started out as a consultant. Roland Berger has been the Honorary Consul of Finland in Bavaria and Thuringia since 1996. In 1999, he was even appointed Honorary General Consul.
"During these four decades, Roland Berger contributed to restructuring Finland's economy. He has shown a strong commitment to promoting a positive dialog between Finland's and Germany's businesses", said Nyberg.
Nyberg went on to say, "as a popular speaker and TV guest, Berger often points to Finland as a prime example for successful reforms and education policies".
Since founding his consultancy in 1967, Roland Berger has worked for a number of key companies in Northern Europe. He has been visiting Finland regularly since 1973.
