Dr. Markus Schäfer joins Pharma & Healthcare as new Partner

As of mid-June, Dr. Markus Schäfer will be a new Partner in the Pharma & Healthcare Competence Center at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. In this role, he will be supporting Dr. Joachim Kartte, head of the practice, at the company's Berlin location. Dr. Schäfer's specialties lie primarily with health insurance companies and healthcare policy.

Markus Schäfer studied chemistry at the Berlin Institute of Technology. In 1997, he received his doctorate from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics. Since then, Schäfer has worked as a consultant in the healthcare field. He first worked for a leading American strategy consultancy, where he was promoted to Partner in 2004. There he advised mainly public and private health insurance companies as well as pharmaceutical companies. He also worked on various private equity projects. His expertise lies primarily in developing strategies for companies and business units as well as conducting programs for transformation and increasing efficiency. He also has extensive experience in the area of research and development.
