Steve Francis
UK national Steve Francis joined the firm in 2008 and now leads our Restructuring practice in the UK. He is a graduate of Oxford University with an MA in Physics and a winning Rowing Blue for Oxford in the Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race.
Prior to joining the firm, his most recent position was as CFO & "CRO" of Vita, where he brokered a EUR 1.2 billion buyout by TPG in 2005 and then oversaw its restructuring. He therefore has hands-on experience not just executing deals, but also initiating and supporting the subsequent restructuring of the company.
Over his 25-year career, Steve has held leadership positions in many fields. In private equity, he was Group CFO of Vita and a founding partner of his own private equity firm. In strategy consulting, he was a leader in McKinsey's Corporate Finance practice, a VP and Head of Strategy Consulting for AT Kearney, and Lead Partner for European Mergers & Acquisitions Consulting for Northern Europe and PwC. He also had experience in investment banking as Managing Director & Head of Corporate Finance Advisory at Barclays Capital.
He brings this broad experience to Roland Berger's Restructuring practice and is leading the initiative to build the firm's presence in the UK. He is focusing particularly on UK-based investors in and capital providers to European businesses requiring restructuring support.
