Truck Powertrain 2020

2010

Reduced oil reserves, rising fuel prices and environmental issues all contribute to an urgent need to further develop new truck powertrain technologies.

But the reduction will not result from alternative powertrain technologies alone; instead, a large share will also come from vehicle improvements such as better aerodynamics or reduction in overall vehicle weight.

None of the most promising technologies currently available can by itself reduce the transport sector's CO2 emissions to meet global targets. For this reason, a combination of technologies is expected.

This study focuses on and analyzes the development of CO2 emission reduction technologies in the different truck segments.
