Jaap Kalkman

Jaap joined our Middle East office in Bahrain in May 2011. He comes from a leading investment bank where he was since 2007 responsible for Infrastructure PE investments, first in Asia and later in the Middle East and India. Prior to that, Jaap worked for 13 years at McKinsey & Company. Until 2002, he was a partner in their Amsterdam office and worked in Oil & Gas, Utilities and Public Sector. Between 2002 and 2005, he led the Manila office and the Asian Utility Practice, working mostly in China, India, and Southeast Asia. Early 2005, Jaap moved to the Middle East, where he set up McKinsey's office in Bahrain. In the GCC he worked with a variety of clients in the Public Sector, Oil&Gas and Utilities.

Jaap has a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and worked during 1993 and 1994 in the Mathematics Department at MIT in Cambridge, US, after obtaining his PhD.
