Aerospace

In brief

The aerospace industry has recently seen a wave of consolidation at a continental level. Now companies are keen to improve their competitiveness in the global market. The ability to develop greener and more cost-efficient products (with less fuel consumption, less emissions and less noise) has become a key differentiating factor. New players from emerging markets have entered the market while traditional players are shifting position, gradually moving down the value chain.

In line with these developments, we now see component suppliers offering more complex equipment, equipment suppliers looking to supply subsystems and platform suppliers providing value-added services. Collaborative models in engineering, manufacturing and services are growing in importance as a way to improve quality and throughput times while cutting unit costs and sharing the investment costs and risks.

Our approach

With this in mind, the RBSC Aerospace & Defense Team has developed a global approach that covers both strategic and operational issues. We help our clients identify and exploit new sources of growth and efficiency. We can also support them in managing large programs and major change initiatives such as process reengineering, controlling, supply chain optimization and sourcing.

Sample projects

Our projects cover the full range of strategic and operational topics. Recent examples include:

  • Developing a strategic plan for a major equipment and component manufacturer in the aerospace segment
  • Redesigning the organizational setup of the operations division of a major aerospace OEM
  • Preparing a leading aerospace Tier-1 supplier for IPO
  • Developing a global supply chain concept and implementation roadmap for a major aerospace OEM
  • Designing and implementing a collaborative supplier program for a global aircraft OEM and one of its main Tier-1 suppliers
