Climate change and resource scarcity are fundamentally changing the global economy. Yet if companies are well-positioned and can make their corporate strategies sustainable in time, they will find that these megatrends offer more than just risks – they also offer excellent opportunities.

In a study entitled "Success through green transformation" from the re: think CEO series, Roland Berger Partner Prof. Torsten Henzelmann shows how European and German companies have to position themselves to be ready for climate change and resource scarcity. Proper positioning will give them the edge.

Henzelmann concludes that the challenge of green transformation lies in aligning innovation management with the emerging megatrends. Sustainable business shouldn't be seen just as a way to polish the corporate image, but rather as a core element of long-term corporate leadership. Green transformation must be a CXO priority.
