Dietrich Matthes

Dietrich Matthes joined our Manama office in June 2010. Formerly, he was a founding partner and Director with KDB, managing the Middle East office.

He has ten years of experience in risk and finance. He served as Chief Risk Officer of Hauck & Aufhäuser Private Bank in Frankfurt and had previously worked with Oliver, Wyman & Company. He worked on the underwriting, structuring and pricing of project finance and commercial real estate deals.

Dietrich has successfully led a global portfolio of risk management and strategy assignments and projects spanning banking and insurance in Europe, the Middle East and Australia. This included leading the complete overhaul of the risk management system and processes of one of the major banks in the Asia/Pacific region in order to achieve Basel II IRB compliance together with a major business improvement.

Among his clients were several of the global top 20 financial service providers and regulatory bodies.

Dietrich holds a diploma and a doctorate (summa cum laude) from Erlangen University and studied at Imperial College in London, in New York and at the University of Tokyo (Komaba).
