Megatrend Globalization & future Markets
We expect business opportunities for companies to emerge in both established and completely new markets. We have therefore divided the second trend into three subtrends:
Differences in GDP growth will continue through 2030. Economic performance in the industrialized countries will rise by only 1.8% per annum. They will also provide only 27% of the world's exports. By contrast, the emerging economies are expected to generate growth of 6.7% per annum and a 73% share of world exports.
BRIC, the new powerhouses
The consumer markets in the BRIC countries will change the most over the next 20 years. A huge new middle class is developing there. The task should be to precisely analyze the needs of this customer segment, which will grow very rapidly – by 150% – to a total of 2.0 billion people.
Beyond BRIC (Next Eleven & ASEAN)
The biggest of the Next Eleven economies will be Mexico in 2030 (USD 3 trillion). South Africa, at number two, will generate only a third of this economic performance. Among the ASEAN countries, next to Vietnam we need to keep our eyes on Indonesia and Malaysia. Both will make a big leap forward in the market capitalization of their companies.
