Railway systems - Integration or separation of the infrastructure?

There are forces within the EU Commission that currently demand a stricter separation of railway infrastructure from train operations. This would represent a significant change in regulation and mean that infrastructure management and train operations would be the responsibility of two separate entities. We believe that this question is very important for the future of the railway industry as it has significant impact on both the transformation process and the quality of rail services.
