Prof. Dr. Burkhard Schwenker
From humble beginnings to the head of one of the world's leading strategy consultants: Prof. Dr. Burkhard Schwenker can look back on fruitful career and ahead to a successful future.
Following his studies of business administration (Dipl. Kfm.) and mathematics, he began his career at paper manufacturer PWA Papierwerke Waldhof-Aschaffenburg AG and joined Roland Berger Strategy Consultants following the completion of his Ph.D. in 1989. During his time with the company he built up the Hamburg office and was elected Partner in 1992. Focus areas in his consulting practice have been strategy, organization and corporate transformation.
Dr. Schwenker regularly lectures at several business schools and universities. He was granted an honorary professorship for strategic management at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management. In addition, he is an active member of Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Marketing und Unternehmensführung, Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte and the German Council on Foreign Relations.
Burkhard Schwenker is socially committed as a member of the following Boards of Trustees: WWF World Wide Fund for Nature, German Sports Aid Foundation and the German Athletics Federation, Stiftung zur Förderung der Semperoper Dresden, "Lebendige Stadt", The Stifterverband, Wertekommission e.V. and berufundfamilie gGmbH – an initiative of the non-profit Hertie Foundation. He is also a member of Atlantik Brücke e.V.
