Starting a tradition
2012 is the second year in which Roland Berger China, also deeply rooted in the country, has teamed up with CCTV for the Davos awards. "The awards themselves and their presentation during CCTV's popular Davos China Night are making a real impact," explains Luyang Jiang, Roland Berger's head of marketing in Asia. "This is why we would like to turn them into an annual affair and establish a joint CCTV-Roland Berger Davos tradition".
think: act CONTENT on growing roots in China
To highlight the motto of this year's awards, "Taking root in China", a think: act CONTENT of the same title, was published exclusively for the occasion. The publication reviews China's hot economic issues and analyzes the current status and features of foreign business development. "Taking root in China" provides insights for international companies committed to making a home in China and achieving sustainable growth.
To stress the concept of "taking root" and the contribution foreign businesses have made to China's economic transformation (and to avoid the "size beats everything" concept), the initial 70 nominees were selected for their excellent work with regard to innovation, green business and social responsibility. These nominees were evaluated according to their sales in China, share of sales in China vs. global sales and their number of employees in China. A jury of 22 international business school professors, politicians, business leaders and investors then came up with the final list for the "2011 Best Foreign Business in China Awards".
