In 2005, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants is looking to hire as many as 50 consultants with a technology degree in Germany, Austria and Switzerland alone. Anyone who wants to get a close-up look at consultants' project work, who believes they can solve complex business tasks, and who also wants to experience a weekend of networking and fun is just who we're looking for at start.ing2005.

"We are organizing start.ing because strategy consulting is seeing a growing need for exceptional engineers with business acumen," says Thomas Eichelmann, member of the Executive Committee at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. "In many industries, companies can establish a successful strategic course only if they possess solid technological knowledge and put it to optimum use. That is why Roland Berger offers good engineers many interesting options."

We will select 20 participants to work in teams to solve a management task for a Roland Berger client. They will plan the future globalization strategy for Georg Fischer AG, a leading international development company for industrial applications.

The first day of the workshop will include a tour of the Georg Fischer plant in Singen. This will give the participants a first impression of "their" client. Thereafter, a member of the Georg Fischer management will explain the consulting assignment. The second day will begin with project work. Experienced consultants will support the teams in developing solutions for the case and preparing their final presentations. The real test will come in the afternoon: the teams will compete to convince representatives of Georg Fischer and Roland Berger consultants of their proposals. Following an awards ceremony, the day will end with a dinner on the shores of Lake Constance. start.ing2005 will wrap up on day three with a group breakfast and sports activities.

Participants may be students, graduates, Ph.D. students or young professionals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Engineers interested in joining Roland Berger Strategy Consultants should have some basic business knowledge, preferably from internships at international companies. Those who are selected for start.ing2005 have a good chance of starting a career at the international strategy consultancy.
