We demand a lot from our future colleagues during the selection process. But we also want you to do your best at our interviews. Here are some useful tips.

Be yourself!

When we invite you to an interview, we want to get to know you – the real you. We need to find out if you have the analytical skills and personal qualities required. In other words, we are seeking new colleagues who can make a powerful impression in tough professional discussions and who are also good company at dinner or sports events.

So be yourself and use this opportunity to get to know your potential future colleagues a little better. This is the only way we can both find out whether we would be a good fit.

Be well prepared!

If we ask you your opinion on business issues, this is not just small talk. Your answer will form part of our assessment. As a management consultant, you will move in an environment where well-founded general knowledge is more important than a smart suit. Furthermore, we will deliberately discuss topics that go beyond business. This will show us if you will be able to think outside the box.

Be creative!

Successful management consulting calls for creative minds. Each day of your consulting work you will have to prove your ability in this field – also on your recruiting day. So be innovative and use every opportunity you can get to visualize your ideas. As in our everyday work, what counts is a mixture of thorough analysis, pragmatism and creative thinking.

Be structured!

One of the most important skills of a management consultant is his or her ability to solve problems using a clear logical structure. Therefore you have to understand every aspect of the case at hand. So take your time, ask questions and come to a well-founded solution.

In the interview, take a clear stance and avoid trial and error. This is what clients want. The same goes for group exercises. Here you should show that you have carefully weighed up your arguments by getting to the point quickly.

Make the most of your team's potential: divide up tasks between yourselves and help each other to crack the case and come up with a creative solution. In any future case presentation you will be asked how you came to your conclusions. So brace yourself for tough questions.

Be a strong communicator!

At Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, we constantly have to improve our skills in rotating teams and functions. Our employees should therefore be able to develop solutions in varying work situations and with different colleagues. In interviews and during group work, you should therefore actively address your counterparts and quickly get a constructive conversation going. In our business, the capacity for teamwork is not only a soft skill, it is a key element of our work.

We look forward to meeting you!
