HighLight Classics

Munich, March 18, 2011

In a setting that mingles architecture and acoustics, the third installment of the "Roland Berger HighLight Classics" series will take place in the HighLight Towers on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. Entitled "Virtuose Italianitá", the concert features leading musicians from the European classics scene in "Europe's highest concert hall" playing works by the recently rediscovered baroque genius Giovanni Benedetto Platti and virtuoso violinist/composer Paganini. The performers will be Prof. Ingolf Turban (violin), Prof. Franz Halasz (guitar), Sebastian Hess (cello) and Axel Wolf (theorbo). Turban is a soloist in the Berlin and Munich philharmonics and has worked with conductors such as Sergiu Celibidache, Charles Dutoit and Zubin Mehta. Halasz began his international career in 1993, when he took first prize in Spain's prestigious Andrés Segovia competition. Hess, artistic director of the HighLight Classics, is often featured as a guest soloist and chamber musician at international festivals as well as with orchestras such as the Bavarian State Orchestra. Axel Wolf has regular engagements at international festivals and appears as a soloist or with ensembles such as Musica Fiata.

After the concert, the artists will present valuable instruments of the 17th and 18th centuries, built by legendary Italian violinmaker Antonio Stradivari and his contemporaries Matteo Gofriller and Luigi Amici.

The evening will be rounded off by a get-together in the Roland Berger Strategy Consultants lounge. There, high above the lights of the city, the sounds of world-class jazz will be provided by an ensemble formed especially for the evening – the "Henning Sieverts Trio": Henning Sieverts from Bayerischer Rundfunk (bass), Hugo Siegmeth (sax) and Matthias Gmelin (drums).
