Charles-Edouard Bouée, Roland Berger Asia President, honored with "2012 Shanghai Magnolia Gold Award"
Munich/Shanghai, October 4, 2012
Charles-Edouard Bouée, member of the Roland Berger Global Executive Committee and President of Roland Berger Asia, was honored by the Shanghai Municipal Government for the second time with the prestigious Magnolia Award for his outstanding contributions to the city of Shanghai and China-Europe relations.
The Shanghai Magnolia Award is presented annually by the Shanghai Municipal Government to honor expatriates who have made outstanding contributions to Shanghai’s social and economic development and foreign exchange. The Magnolia Gold Award is the top honor for expatriates in Shanghai. Having received the Magnolia Silver Award in 2010, Charles-Edouard Bouée was honored this year by the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office with the prestigious Magnolia Gold Award.
Mr. Bouée said, "I am deeply touched by the city of Shanghai's recognition of our hard work and dedication. This is a great honor for the entire Roland Berger team. My family and I have been in Shanghai for six years and have been very involved in the development of the city. We are very happy and proud to be here and witness the changes happening around us every day."
Under Mr. Bouée's leadership since 2006, Roland Berger Greater China has witnessed extraordinary expansion, with a compound annual growth rate of about 40% and a current consultant team of 360. At the beginning of 2010, Mr. Bouée designated Shanghai as Roland Berger's regional headquarters, introducing the company's experiences in the Chinese market to other Asian offices and remarkably improving the position of the Asian market in the company's global plan.
Mr. Bouée dedicated himself to enhancing Shanghai's development and improving exchange between Shanghai and Europe. As a senior member of the Shanghai Branch of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China from 2009 to 2011, Mr. Bouée was active in promoting economic cooperation between China and Europe and consulting on improving Shanghai's business environment and sustainable economic development.
In 2011, Mr. Bouée incorporated his personal observations of Chinese social and economic development during the past six years in his book, "China's Management Revolution: Spirit, Land, Energy." The book introduces a brand new corporate management model with distinctly Chinese features.
Mr. Bouée is also highly involved in corporate social responsibility and giving back to the community. Among others, he initiated corporate and private donations after the Sichuan earthquake of 2008, established the Roland Berger Corporate Social Responsibility Club in 2010 and organized various events like charity runs in Beijing and Shanghai. His motto being "what comes from society should be returned in kind", Mr. Bouée has actively contributed to the comprehensive and robust development of Shanghai and China as a whole.
Mr. Bouée holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Master of Science degree from École Centrale Paris, and a Master's degree in Law from Paris University.
