For us, work-life balance is not just a buzzword. Roland Berger is the first strategy consultancy to be awarded the Hertie Foundation "work & family" certificate.

Together with other progressive companies such as adidas, Roland Berger has now officially been rewarded for its efforts to combine professional and family life.

Since 1999, the "work & family" certificate has been awarded to more than 200 companies and public institutions.

Companies that apply for the certificate are thoroughly audited: the current status of family-related issues is assessed and potential for improvement is defined. Three years after certification, the companies are audited again.

"In cooperation with Hertie Foundation, a group of Roland Berger consultants and support staff defined a number of goals for the specific situation of consulting companies. In difficult family situations, for example, we advocate flexible working hours and include family issues in our bottom-up evaluation," says Thomas Eichelmann, member of Roland Berger's Executive Committee.

The effort to provide a family-friendly work atmosphere is not limited to internal structures. Roland Berger also commissions an external agency to support our employees in their search for appropriate family services such as child and elder care.
