In-House Senior Legal Counsel


Job Description

We are hiring an attorney to join our team in Boston, Chicago, or Detroit and head our US legal team and our Americas Legal function. This role will partner with leadership and client and shared services teams to provide legal advice on commercial contracts, employment law, and corporate governance. This role will report to the US Managing Partner and will also work closely with Roland Berger's Corporate Legal Team based in Germany. This role will also interact with business teams in Brazil, Canada, and Mexico.



  • Advise the business on best practices regarding corporate governance
  • Proactively identify legal and reputational risks and recommend solutions that balance risk with business impact
  • Keep leadership informed of legislation and regulatory rulings
  • Respond to any legal or regulatory inquiries
  • Align closely with global Legal Team
  • Actively manage and build out the US legal team
  • Define, implement, and manage the legal setup for the legal team in other countries in the region (Canada, Mexico, Brazil)

Contract Law

  • Review and negotiate vendor and client contracts and agreements, including NDAs and non-reliance letters
  • Gather information on business issues to ensure agreements accurately describe business capabilities and address legal risks
  • Provide legal guidance on contract interpretation
  • Address business team legal questions, covering topics like customer relationship, compliance, and intellectual property
  • Develop and maintain templates, policies, and escalation procedures in collaboration with Corporate Legal Team
  • Manage risks and provide solutions for resolving customer complaints
  • Oversee and consult with outside counsel, as needed


Employment Law

  • Provide advice and support on the employment relationship, including recruiting, leaves of absence, investigations, terminations, and workplace safety
  • Prepare employment documents, including employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, separation agreements, and contractor agreements
  • Prepare employee-related correspondence, such as disciplinary warnings
  • Provide solutions for resolving employment disputes
  • Assist with enforcing employment agreements, such as restrictive covenant and confidentiality agreements
  • Provide advice on federal, state, and local employment and labor laws, such as Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA
  • Advise the business on benefits matters, including health and welfare and 401k
  • Oversee and consult with outside counsel, as needed


  • Juris Doctor or LLM from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the US
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of legal experience, preferably with several years of in-house legal experience
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clearly articulate pragmatic solutions to complex legal and business challenges
  • Experience building relationships and partnering with multiple stakeholders at various organizational levels
  • Broad international perspective and understanding of consulting
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Experience with contracts in Brazil, Canada, and Mexico a plus, but not required
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
