Yong has more than 15 years of consulting and professional services experience and is a Principal at Roland Berger, based in Shanghai. He joined the firm to set up the Operations Competence Centre for China. Yong specializes in Operations Strategy, Performance Improvement and post-Merger Integration related operational initiatives. Function and subject wise, he is experienced in Operating Models, Shared Services and Outsourcing, Commercial Operations and Distribution Model, Sales and Operations Planning, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement.
Yong has led and supported a number of large operation transformation projects. Among these was a transformation leadership role for a leading US pharmaceutical company post its spin-off from a parent company to set up its entire target operating model for commercial affiliates in Asia. Other cases include end-to-end strategy to implementation for a large French utility company in its Greater China operation transformation and performance improvement program.
Yong gained international experience early in his careers, when he participated in solution development and delivery in Germany, Eastern Europe and Asia. He entered the consulting world after this, starting with a boutique firm that took part in operations turn-around and improvement. As the co-founder of a venture capital supported start-up company, Yong led and implemented one of China's first integrated solutions on e-commerce support. Before joining Roland Berger, Yong was a Director of another leading international consulting firm, where he headed one of the firm's service lines and covered various operational topics with both front-end commercial operations and supporting functions.
