Top Management Issue Radar 2012 - European Aerospace & Defense Industry

2012

The European aerospace and defense industries are banking on globalization. Nearly half of the companies are planning to generate at least 60% of their sales outside Europe – primarily in North and South America as well as China. But in the short term, firms are facing very different challenges: aerospace with healthy order books have to secure their deliveries and ensure profitable processing of contracts. At the same time, the defense industry is continuing to struggle with investment cuts in their home markets.

That's why optimizing production and supply chain management takes top priority for the aerospace industry. By contrast, the defense industry can compensate for declining local budgets only with massive growth outside of Europe. Overall, production and supply chain management, increasing competition from emerging markets plus declining defense budgets will continue to top the agenda up through 2015.

These are the main findings of our annual study "Top Management Issues Radar 2012 – European Aerospace & Defense Industry". The study surveyed more than 100 top executives from 6 European countries.
