Roland Berger continues participation Myanmar Connect

  • Roland Berger's involvement this year marks third year in a row
  • Conference has expanded from 360 delegates in 2014 to 450 delegates in 2016
  • Industry growth high on the conference agenda this year

Yangon, June 30, 2017

Roland Berger will once again play a prominent role at Myanmar Connect 2017, which will gather decision- and news-makers who lead the development of fast growing Myanmar's telecom industry to discuss the industry's most pressing issues and strategies how to navigate those complexities.

Damien Dujacquier, Senior Partner and head of Roland Berger's telecom practice in the region, will moderate the conference's opening panel: Has the Greenfield Turned Mature? – Analyzing the Changing Competitive Landscape of the Myanmar Telecoms Market.

Mr. Dujacquier will be joined by senior executives from Campana, Frontiir, MPT-KGSM and Telenor Myanmar to discuss next-stage growth opportunities in a fast-maturing telecom industry in the country. Hailed as the greenfield opportunity of the decade, the country's telecoms' market has changed beyond recognition in the last four years.

In prior years, networks were tasked the mission of bridging the unconnected, but Myanmar operators must now deal with explosive demand for data connectivity and continue to offer cutting edge services to mobile users of 2017. With mobile penetration close to 100% and a fourth license holder entering the market, growth is slowing down.

Expanding conference mandate

The show has grown year-on-year, with the conference delegates growing 7.72% for the last three years. It has addressed not only current challenges and possible solutions, but also anticipates future issues for industry players, the regulator and consumers.

"The vast and constantly growing telecom landscape is creating opaque business environments for many telecom players. For continued investments and development of the industry in Myanmar, stakeholders must converge to resolve industry issues to unlock the benefits a good telecommunications backbone can give to Myanmar's economy and her people. Conferences such as Myanmar Connect facilitate these breakthroughs to navigate complexities and effect change," said Mr. Dujacquier.

This year's Myanmar Connect will attract more than 450 senior-level executives from more than 200 companies, representing 15 countries. Last year, the show was represented by every vertical within the country's telecoms community, including banks, satellite companies and OTTs.

H.E. U Soe Thein, Director-General, Post and Telecom Department, Ministry of Transport and Communications will grace the conference and give its opening keynote.

Myanmar Connect will be held from September 19-20, 2017 in the Myanmar International Convention Centre 2, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
