Expertise

Jonathan Chan is a Principal at Roland Berger, where he leads the firm's Energy, Infrastructure and Industrials Deal Advisory practice across Australia and New Zealand. He advises private equity investors, infrastructure funds and corporates across the full M&A lifecycle — from investment origination and commercial due diligence through to value creation planning, transaction execution, post-deal value capture and exit readiness.

Jonathan specialises in identifying and assessing businesses and assets with private equity, core-plus and core infrastructure characteristics, particularly where structural market shifts create differentiated value across established, emerging and niche markets. He works closely with investors, executives and Boards to identify the value drivers that matter most, rigorously test investment theses and develop strategic insights that support confident capital allocation.

A trusted adviser to investors and executive teams, Jonathan brings more than 18 years of experience across leading global strategy consulting, transaction advisory and senior corporate roles. His experience spans Group Strategy, Corporate Development, Commercial Growth and Corporate Finance within the energy sector, providing him with a practical perspective on both investing in, operating and growing businesses.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Dean's Honours List) from Monash University and is a Merit-qualified Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ).

Good deals withstand diligence; great deals improve through it. I focus on the few decisive factors that matter most to investors, combining analytical rigour with commercial insight to strengthen investment decisions before capital is committed — clearly defining where value will be created, and where it will not.
