At the start.ing2011 recruiting event organized by strategy consultancy Roland Berger, participants will be given a challenging task: to develop a market entry strategy for a leading car company. start.ing2011 is aimed at university students from their second year onwards and at recent graduates and Ph.D. students in engineering. Professionals with an engineering background and up to two years' work experience can also apply. The workshop will take place in Munich on June 17-19, 2011. "Engineers have great career prospects in our firm," says Ralf Kalmbach, member of the Executive Committee of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. "There are more and more projects in which technical knowledge is needed – whether in the car, high tech or IT industries. Engineering graduates therefore have the chance at Roland Berger to work on exciting industry topics. These may include launching new product segments in certain companies or developing electromobility."
The world of consulting up close
Students and recent graduates who would like to experience consulting project work can gain detailed insight into the world of management consultancy at start.ing2011 in Munich. At the event, applicants have to get to grips with complicated corporate tasks.
How can a leading carmaker drive forward its international market strategy in Asia? What potential does the market offer? How can technological innovations be successfully marketed there? These and similar questions will be dealt with by participants at start.ing2011, where they will develop suitable solutions alongside experienced consultants. Finally, participants must present their results to a jury – just like at a board meeting – and persuade them to accept their strategy.
Detailed insight into the car industry
In the project work, participants can learn about strategy consulting methods and find out whether the job of a management consultant would suit them. As on a real project, the students will have direct contact with the client during the recruiting workshop. They will gain detailed insight into the car industry on a tour of a car factory. At the various evening social events, participants will get to know staff at Roland Berger and find out about their personal career prospects.
