Perinatal care in flux

The massive resistance from hospitals that fail to meet the minimum number set by Germany's Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) for premature and newborn care – recently also in the form of legal proceedings – shows that there is an acute need for action. A customized expansion or withdrawal strategy is needed for borderline and smaller centers to help them best position themselves.

This procedure analyzes the following key factors:

  • Demographic development in the region
  • Competitive position with respect to the relevant competitors in the region
  • Regional care aspects
  • Internal process and cost structure

The quick check entails a situation analysis, after which we develop initial strategic approaches taking internal and external factors into account. The aim is to define individual, suitable action alternatives and, subsequently, discuss each of their potential benefits in a workshop. Depending on data availability, the results will be available in 2 to 4 weeks and will form the basis for the strategic decision.
