Evaluation after five years of the German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation

The German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation (Stiftung Deutsch-Russischer Jugendaustausch, located in Hamburg) is celebrating its five-year anniversary this year. It is taking this opportunity to have an external evaluation conducted. A team of 3 Roland Berger consultants performed this evaluation pro bono over a period of four months.

The Foundation is a public private partnership with the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations. This organization has dedicated its efforts to providing as many young people in Germany as possible with the opportunity to visit Russia. These visits can be done as school, extracurricular or professional exchanges, either for groups or individuals. Participants can get their own impressions of Russia, its people and culture.

The review focused on how efficiently and effectively the organization is able to meet its objectives. The consultants particularly looked at whether and how the Foundation is fulfilling its mandate, as well as how its previous achievements measure up. In the course of the review, the consultants interviewed the Foundation's key stakeholders. This group includes over a dozen schools, teachers and youth organizations that use the Foundation's services. The satisfaction reported by those surveyed was consistently high.

Since its founding, the German-Russian Youth Exchange Foundation has been able to expand the number of projects it supports. In total, more than 2,000 actions with over 60,000 participants have been supported. You can learn more about the Foundation at www.stiftung-drja.de
