Women's leadership in digital times

Women around the world are increasingly taking on corporate leadership roles, but at the same time home and family responsibilities still overwhelmingly rest on their shoulders. The study "Women's leadership in digital times" examines the impact of digitalization on women's lives.

Is it becoming easier to balance private and professional life? Will the wage gap close anytime soon? Our survey of more than 1,500 people around the world reveals imbalances still prevail. For example, women still spend 16% of the day doing unpaid housework, while men spend just 9% of their time on such chores.

In order to develop their full potential for leadership roles, women should actively participate in all aspects of leadership responsibility and use their resources carefully. The disruptive social changes that go hand in hand with digitalization should be watched closely – and used in the interests of equal rights for women and men. Artificial intelligence based applications should be designed to behave gender neutrally, so they don't replicate stereotypes and human biases.

The study was conducted by Roland Berger with the support of "Flash Tweet" and "L'International au Féminin". From October to December 2017, more than 1,500 people took part in an international online survey.
