Expertise

Christian Bast is a Partner in Roland Berger’s Boston office and leads the firm’s US private equity value creation work. He brings about two decades of experience helping investors, portfolio companies, and corporates unlock their full potential and deliver sustained performance improvement.

Christian advises private equity funds and their portfolio companies across the investment lifecycle: sizing the full potential of a target in diligence, defining where to play and how to win, translating the investment thesis into a value creation plan, and launching, driving, and sustaining value creation through the hold period to exit. He brings the same approach to corporate clients and their boards, focused on durable earnings growth and shareholder value.

He focuses on the levers that move value: commercial excellence and growth, operations and footprint optimization, cost and SG&A reduction, operating model transformation, and the targeted application of AI and technology to reshape productivity and the cost base. His industry focus spans Industrial Goods & Services, Automotive & Commercial Vehicles, and Consumer Goods & Retail, with experience across Europe, North America, and Asia.

Before joining Roland Berger, Christian was a Partner in transformation and value creation at an international consultancy, where he established the firm’s New York office. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

A full-potential plan is only the start. Value creation comes from profitable growth and performance - and is sustained by building the capabilities to keep delivering.
