Selling off group companies in crisis situations
Gerd Sievers
2006
The latest publication in our Ph.D. series, by Gerd Sievers, deals with whether and how selling off group companies can help overcome corporate crises.
Gerd Sievers has developed a tool that uses divestitures to ensure corporate survival in crisis situations. In order to flesh out theory with practical application, he provides a model that incorporates interview findings from managers from industry, management consulting and banks. Using anonymized case studies, Sievers shows in detail how to put the model into practice and successfully divest portfolio companies in crisis situations.
The book targets teachers and students of business administration, and professionals involved in corporate restructuring, divestitures and management. A brief presentation provides an overview of his findings.
The book is especially useful for consultants who work on strategy and restructuring projects, or who are active in portfolio analysis and divestment programs. Gerd Sievers has developed a consulting product that helps screen portfolio companies and manage divestment program implementation. Sievers has also developed a separate product presentation for consultants that is ideal for attracting new clients.
