"A great support for me is to see more and more young parents working in our teams being great mums and dads and facing all the same challenges"

Anna

How many kids do you have and how old are they?
We have three wonderful little children at the age of 1, 3 and 6.

How do you (and your family) organize childcare?
My husband and I work together as a strong team in managing our family. The kids go to different daycare locations, so both of us are involved in the morning drop off. We then head to the office or back to home office. Currently, I do not have to travel for my projects what makes life a lot easier. In the afternoon, our nanny is helping us with the pickup from daycare, preparing food for the family and keeping control of the chaos at home. We try to have a joint family dinner and then get the kids ready for bed.

What has been the greatest challenge for you as a working parent?
I see the greatest challenge in the great demand of flexibility required and a lower degree of independence and self-determination. Communication and planning is key but also skipping plans and looking for workarounds is becoming usual. With three little children, there is always something going on. We are constantly working on keeping the right balance between family time and our professional ambitions which requires a high level of discipline and understanding for everybody's needs.

How does Roland Berger support you as a parent beyond the legal provisions in your country?
I am grateful that I can combine my family life with a challenging job where I can constantly further develop myself and work together with great colleagues. This is only possible with a trustful relationship and an open communication with my mentor and team. A great support for me is to see more and more young parents working in our teams, being great mums and dads, facing all the same challenges, but also being very ambitious and successful in their jobs. To see these role models encourages me to follow my professional career without missing a wonderful family life.

What has been your most precious parent-child moment recently?
My daughter just started walking and can make a couple of steps in a row now. To see her brothers encouraging her to walk and seeing her being so proud is absolutely priceless. This compensates for all the challenging moments.
