"I harness my scientific background to find new opportunities in innovation."
Koen Besteman, partner at Roland Berger, specializes in the life sciences, the biopharma industry, the high-tech sector, and in universities and research institutes. He supports companies with innovation management, new market development, business cases, and setting up value models for research projects and portfolios, and he helps universities address strategic and financing issues. Through research collaborations and innovation infrastructures, Koen builds bridges between companies and universities. Koen also supports universities in strategic and financing topics.
Koen, educated as a scientist, is always on the lookout for new opportunities made possible by innovation – and he dives into the deep end of such questions. The solutions that he develops for his clients' challenges are not the by-products of general theories, but come from his comprehensive understanding of their specific circumstances. In projects, Koen is often the linking pin. By safeguarding everyone's interests and identifying common goals, he guides public-private partnerships to success.
Koen studied Applied Sciences at Delft University of Technology. As a PhD student, he conducted a four-year research project in the area of nano-biophysics. Koen has worked at Roland Berger since 2007.
